Who We Are
30+ YEARS IN THE FIELD
Apex Backcountry Consulting is built on a foundation most outdoor programs can't claim — over three decades of military, law enforcement, and backcountry experience, backed by state and federal licensing and certifications.
Our Story
MILITARY ROOTS. FIELD-PROVEN RESULTS.
Apex was founded by subject matter experts who spent careers operating in some of the most demanding environments imaginable — military service, law enforcement operations, and decades of backcountry hunting, fishing, and survival work across North America and beyond.
Everything we teach is derived from military and law enforcement survival techniques — not YouTube tutorials, not weekend courses, not theory. Our curriculum has been tested under real pressure, refined over 30+ years, and adapted for the full range of environments where our clients operate: from coastal lowlands and river systems to high-altitude mountain terrain and remote wilderness.
Our consulting model is simple: we give you the knowledge, strategy, and skills that took us decades to earn — so you can skip the learning curve and get straight to results. Whether that means filling your tag, landing a trophy fish, or coming home safe from a solo backcountry trip, we're in your corner.
What Drives Us
OUR PRINCIPLES
Certified at the Highest Level
Our instructors hold state and federal licensing and certifications through the Department of Defense, FEMA, and state law enforcement agencies. This isn't a weekend course background — it's a career's worth of credentialing.
Subject Matter Experts
We don't dabble. With 30+ years of experience and professional licensing across our disciplines, we are recognized subject matter experts in wilderness survival, hunting guidance, and backcountry angling.
Honest Consulting
We tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. If your plan has a flaw, we'll find it before the field does.
Respect for the Land
Ethical hunting, responsible angling, and leave-no-trace wilderness practices aren't optional — they're the foundation of everything we do.
